The following year, 2021 I started working with other real estate investors on their own projects. I came in and turned their practices upside down calling out incorrect install methods, and sketchy practices. I offered up budget friendly design, making their “builder flips” stand out. I enforced the codes, the quality material upgrades and install. I quickly started growing my network of trusted subcontractors, architects, and engineers. I became known and respected by various inspectors and contractors in the flipping industry for my integrity and work ethic. I was always jumping in on jobs to tile, or build custom range hoods to meet our listing deadline. 

During 2020 I renovated this home room by room. Plaster, tile, plumbing, concrete, you name it! I had renovated my previous home in Columbia Mo, but had not gutted it to this extent. It was the perfect way to meet different tradespeople in the city! 

In 2020 I moved to St. Louis City to pursue my dreams of doing art shows full time. I left the interior design firm I was working for in Columbia MO for 3 years where I project managed remodels and new builds. There, I also worked in the furniture industry and sourced and white labeled luxury brands that we sold to our interior design clients. I was sad to leave and feared I would never end up back in that industry, but I felt my artist soul sending me down a new path. I bought a dilapidated, nearly 100 year old foreclosure, in South city with great bones. A month later I found myself living in the attic with my two cats in the middle of a full blown pandemic and there were NO art shows that year. When I tell you I showered in the basement with the centipedes surrounded by a plastic paint drop cloth, over a dirty floor drain, all you need to do is picture an episode of Dexter.

Hands on experience and expertise

I have extensive experience working on single-family homes and multi-unit properties designed for hitting the market and appealing to a wide audience. However, my passion lies in designing custom, vibrant, masculine, unique spaces. In 2023, I shifted my focus towards taking on more custom projects with homeowners, aiming to turn their dreams into reality. This has now become my primary project focus!

While many designers prefer working with larger budgets, I excel at creating innovative and beautiful solutions within tighter budgets too! I bring the expertise of a luxury designer, with knowledge of high-end items like a $3000 chandelier, alongside the resourcefulness of a builder-grade flipper, finding alternatives like an $80 knockoff version. One thing remains consistent across all my projects: regardless of the finish selections, whether it's a $1.99/sqft tile or a $39.99/sqft tile, I ensure the waterproofing and structural integrity remain top-notch.

Where do I start?? The bathroom was the first in an expected series of other home improvements that I'll be working on with her. She took all the inputs I gave her for what I wanted in the new bathroom, the anticipated "vibe" for the rest of the house and seems to read my mind whenever we discuss next steps.
